Recruitment Issue Impacts Cashel Minor Injuries Unit

Difficulties recruiting a locum doctor for 5 days a week is leading to a reduced service at Cashel Minor Injuries Unit.

Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne says the facility was only open 2 days this week.

The HSE says it’s actively looking for locums to fill this role.

Deputy Browne says he’s been informed it is likely that the unit’s days of operation will continue to be cut short next week and may persist until a locum willing to take on these hours is secured.

The Cashel based TD believes there’s a real issue with the level of pay being offered for positions such as this.

He’s advising people to ring ahead just in case.
