Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath will not participate in today’s Oireachtas Media Committee session with RTE.
RTÉ Board members and senior executives are to go before the Oireachtas Media Committee today to face further questioning over financial governance.
Deputy McGrath, a committee member, describes the meeting as “another staged spectacle providing zero financial accountability.”
The TD is repeating a call for the Garda Fraud squad to investigate the RTE finances and that the Comptroller and Auditor General be given a role in supervising RTE Finances.
Members of the Committee were given documents by the Board on Monday including independent audits provided to the board’s Audit and Risk Committee over a decade.
The documents reveal that €650,000 in car allowances was paid out last year, but recipients were not required to prove they had a driving licence.
The government has indicated that major reforms are required for the Government to be willing to give a financial bailout to the company.
