The Actions of the HSE in closing or reducing services at three health facilities needs further examination according to Tipperary TD Martin Browne.

Deputy Browne Chairs the Oireacthas petitions committee and last week the committee heard from Save St Brigid’s Action Group from Carrick on Suir; the Loughrea Concerned Citizens Group who are calling for the Seven Springs Day Centre to be reopened; and from the Friends of Owenaccurra Group who are also campaigning for the decision to close the Owenacurra Centre in Midleton, Co Cork to be reversed.

The Oireachtas Committee is dissatisfied with the response provided by the HSE in hearings and documents supplied to the committee – much of which was totally redacted.

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is now to be invited to appear before the committee, alongside representatives of the HSE to answer the questions raised by the three groups.
