Cllr Tony Black is describing reports of youths throwing stones at passing cars in parts of Tipperary Town as “senseless behaviour.”

Reports on social media over the weekend reported 7 youths, dressed in black and wearing face coverings, throwing rocks at cars near James Connolly Park.

Neither the Councillor nor Tipperary Garda station had received any reports over the weekend – the post did not make it clear when the incident had occurred.

Cllr Black encourages anyone experiencing such a situation to report the matter to the Garda as soon as possible saying this is important as it should lead to a response and was also important to support the case for staffing and vehicle resources for the area.

The local Sinn Fein councillor says there are 4 parties involved – the perpetrators, their parents or guardians, An Garda Siochana and the Government – the latter being responsible to provide resources and a suitable response via the Justice system.

Damage to planting in the Market Yard area over the weekend was described as “a slap in the face” to those working to deliver an improved environment in Tipperary.

Cllr Black appealed for people to respect their community and their neighbours.
