Delays To Delivery Of New Homes In Cashel Raised

Delays to the delivery of 9 new homes at Boherclough in Cashel were raised at today’s Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD meeting.

The houses were to be completed by the end of August and this date has now been revised back to mid-November.

The delay is due to works that Irish Water need to complete at the location and the subsequent installation of a roundabout at the junction between the Green Cashel and the Cahir road.

Housing officials say they will allocate the homes via the Choice Based Letting system and that this will commence a month before the expected completion date.

Under this process the houses are made visible on an application portal on the Council website and approved Housing Applicants that have registered for the Choice Based letting system can indicate their interest in the property.

Cllrs urged extra efforts to ensure the new occupants could be in situ for Christmas 2023.

The new development is to be known as Aengus Court after Aengus the former High King of Munster.

According to legend when St Patrick baptised Aengus at the Rock of Cashel(AD 450) he spiked King Aengus with his crozier.

The King, thinking it was part of the ceremony, went along with the procedure which is said to have caused some reluctance amongst others to be baptised by St Patrick.
