The Blood Transfusion service is again appealing for donors to attend donation clinics in Tipperary this week.

Blood levels are low causing the service to issue a pre-amber alert to hospitals.  This could have implications for hospitals and for elective surgical procedures requiring blood support. The service is hoping to reach a target of  an additional 400 donations  per week.

These clinics are as follows the Ballykisteen Hotel near Tipperary town today from 4.50pm until 8.10pm and in Nenagh on Sunday at the Abbey Court Hotel, Dublin Road, Nenagh between 11.50am and 3.10pm.

Only 3% of the eligible population in Ireland are blood donors but it is estimated that 25% of  people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives.

Existing & New Blood Donors  are welcome – those willing to donate are asked to call 1800 222 111 to make an appointment.
