As the water shortage in county Tipperary gets worse Uisce Eireann says more communities are to face night time supply restrictions.   Residents in the Rosegreen and Cashel areas are to have night time restrictions on water supply each night until Sunday June 11th to help reservoir levels recover. In addition to restrictions at Rosegreen, customers located at higher elevations of the network in Cashel town will experience reduced pressure and/or intermittent supply.

This will lead to low pressure and/or outages: Rosegreen, Rathmacarthy, Rathsallagh, Tullamain, Lowesgreen, Stephenstown, Ballyduagh, Rathordan, Mayfield and surrounding areas. It can take two to three hours following low pressure for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as water refills the network.

Four tankers have been put in place for the public to collect water – the tankers are at Dansies Shop Carpark, Rosegreen, adjacent to the Tipperary Raceway, Rosegreen, at Rockview Housing Estate, Deerpark Road, Cashel and at the Entrance to Greenfields Housing Estate

Uisce Eireann says Continued high demand for water, combined with ongoing low rainfall levels has resulted in local reservoir levels depleting to unsatisfactory levels.

Customers in the Killenaule and Gortnahoe areas had their supply restricted last night.  The supply should be restored as of 8am today.  The restriction is being used to help local reservoirs replenish to improve pressure on the overall network.  Customers in Killenaule, Ballynonty, Glengoole, Gortnahoe and surrounding areas can now expect normal supply to return in the next few hours up to 11am today.

Water demand will continue to be monitored and further restrictions may be required.

Uisce Éireann are asking the public to help play their part by reducing water usage when possible by avoiding  power washing and  the use of garden hoses, checking for leaks on outdoor taps and water troughs and  minimising the use of paddling and swimming pools
