Work to improve the Maternity, Paediatric and Medical wards in Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel will take several years.
Tipp Mid West Radio has learned that while the HSE 2023 Capital Programme includes new ward block replacement beds for Maternity, Paediatric and Medical wards, the allocation of funding for this year is only €50,000.
The project has an estimated cost of €75 Million. Two Tipperary TDs, Jackie Cahill and Michael Lowry last week welcomed the inclusion of the upgraded wards in the HSE Capital Plan – however significant additional funding will be required for the project to be delivered.
Hospital Management says approval was given to initiate the project in 2023 with the first year’s funding being €50,000. Management at Tipperary University Hospital Clonmel describe the project as “extensive” and says it will take some time before its finally completed.
