Next Stage Of Littleton Labyrinth Likely To Be Approved Today

Tipperary Councillors are likely to approve the next stage of the Littleton Labyrinth when they meet on Monday.

The proposed development involves the creation of a series of linked trails and comprises a 3km loop walk at Lough Dhoire Bhile and a 1.6km loop trail at Derrynaflan, linked by new a 7km trail.

The new trail is a shared walking and cyclin route that will involve the upgrade and improvement of the public lane at Lough Dhoire Bhile (0.22km), construction of 7km of cycleway (with a quarry dust finish) linking the public laneway at Lough Dhoire Bhile with the Derrynaflan Loop (0.6km) and the upgrade and improvement of the Derrynaflan Loop (0.6km)

Some vegetation on the rail line corridor will be cleared and boundary hedgerows and boundary vegetation will be retained.

The old rails previously used for peat transportation will be removed to enable the cycleway to be installed.

Safety barriers will be installed, in addition to signage for road crossings, information boards, directional signage and seating.

The proposed development, which is being undertaken by Tipperary County Council in partnership with Bord Na Mona, represents the first phase of a new tourism product in the category of (Hidden Treasures and Ancient Prophecies).

Overall the intention is to develop the Littleton Bog Complex as a project to stimulate the area as a major tourism hub for bushcraft, survival and outdoor activity experiences.
