St Joseph’s primary School in Tipperary town has received it’s 11th Green Flag – the Green Flag programme is delivered in educational establishments as students complete activities related to litter, water and sustainability measures.

Tipperary TD Michael Lowry attended the ceremony to raise the latest flag.

During his address the Thurles based TD confirmed that works at the school during the summer break would include 4 additional rooms, a new roof on existing structure and the supply and fit of a new lift.

The school will also benefit from full DEIS status next year which will mean extra resources in terms of staffing and funding.

Deputy Lowry urged the students to bring their Green School learning into their homes and communities saying that climate change is a reality of today and not a fear for the future.
