Tipperary County Council has published an update on the delivery and implementation of the rollout of the National Broadband Plan. The high-speed Fibre broadband Network is currently being deployed to over 29,759 premises in County Tipperary – which includes homes, farms, commercial businesses and schools. This equates to 35% of all premises in the county. The NBP is a state intervention to provide broadband services to locations not served by commercial operators. There are a total of 21 Broadband Connection Points to be delivered across County Tipperary and work on these is well underway with some fully operational at present – these are located in Community Centers such as in Rossmore and GAA club buildings providing community digital hubs. 35 BCP’s for primary schools in County Tipperary will also be connected to broadband by the end of 2022. The council reports that these connections will be in place significantly earlier than the original completion date in 2026.
