Cahir LEA Above National COVID Incidence Rate

The Health Surveillance Centre is reporting an huge jump in covid cases in the Tipperary and Cashel area.

The latest data was recorded over a two week period between 15th of March and March 28th.

431 new cases were recorded in Cashel/Tipp Town Electrol District compared to 280 in the previous two weeks (March 1st-14th)

While in Cahir LEA 294 new cases of the virus were confirmed compared to 164 recorded two weeks prior.

313 cases were identified in Thurles LEA during this period while only 174 was recorded previous two weeks (March 1st-14th)

The virus incidence rate is also rising across West Tipperary.

The Cashel/Tipp Town ED (rate per 100k pop: 1574) and Thurles ED (rate per 100k pop: 1614.9) are below the national COVID incidence rate which is currently 1,188.5 per 100,000 population.

While the Cahir ED (rate per 100k pop: 1997.7) is now above the national incidence rate (rate per 100k pop:1,871.1)
