Update On Local Hospitals As Cyberattack Affects Services

The latest updates on Hospital Services as of May 17th .

As the HSE continues to try to get it’s computer systems operational delays and cancellations are to be expected. Updates will be issued for each county at this link: https://www2.hse.ie/services/hospital-service-disruptions/hse-it-system- cyber-attack.html

University Hospital Limerick Outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in the majority of cases on Monday, May 17. Attend your appointment or procedure unless contacted directly by the hospital and advised otherwise. The Emergency Department at UHL continues to operate as normal. But, delays are expected due to the ransomware attack. Please attend the ED only in the case of an emergency. Cancer day ward (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) and dialysis continue as scheduled. Theatres continue to operate for emergency trauma and time-critical elective cases.

St John’s Hospital Outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in the majority of cases on Monday, May 17. Patients are advised to attend their appointment or procedure unless contacted directly by the hospital and advised otherwise. The Injury Unit at St John’s Hospital continues to operate from 8 am to 7 pm 7 days per week. But delays are expected due to the ransomware attack.

University Maternity Hospital Limerick Outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in the majority of cases on Monday, May 17. Attend your appointment/procedure unless contacted directly by the hospital and told otherwise. The Maternity Emergency Unit and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (appointment only) continue to operate.

Croom Orthopaedic Hospital Outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in the majority of cases on Monday, May 17.​ Attend your appointment or procedure unless contacted directly by the hospital and told otherwise.

Tipperary University Hospital (Clonmel) The following services are now cancelled on Monday 17 May:

  • outpatient appointments except for the maternity clinic
  • routine x-rays
  • blood tests
  • pre-operative assessment
  • all elective surgery
  • endoscopy treatments
  • outpatient clinics except for antenatal, physiotherapy and cardiac diagnostic Expectant mothers with previously scheduled appointments should attend as normal.

Nenagh Hospital Outpatient appointments and elective procedures will go ahead as scheduled in most cases on Monday, 17 May. Attend your appointment or procedure unless contacted directly by the hospital and told otherwise. The Injury Unit at Nenagh Hospital continues to operate from 8 am to 8 pm 7 days per week. But, delays are expected due to the ransomware attack.

University Hospital Waterford and Kilcreen Regional Orthopaedic Hospital The following services are now cancelled on Monday 17 May:

  • all outpatient appointments
  • all diagnostics including x-ray, CT scans, MRI appointments and cardiac investigations
  • cardiology appointments
  • all surgical procedures
  • endoscopy services
