History was made at the weekend as two Tipperary schools qualified for the final of the Harty Cup – the schools u19 hurling competition. In the 106 year history of the competition it is the first time for an all Tipperary final.
Cashel Community School defeated fancied Ardscoil Rís on a score line of Cashel 1 – 12 to 14 points while Thurles CBS defeated Cork by 16 points with the final score Thurles CBS 3 – 20 Middleton CBS 2 -7.
The venue for the final is now to be considered with some suggestions that it be played in conjunction with the Tipperary v Laois NHL game in Semple Stadium on Feb 4th.
Other proposals are for Boherlahan and some have suggested that the gate receipts should be donated to the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
