Tipp Town’s Men Shed Winner’s At Pride of Place Awards

Tipperary town’s Men Shed was a winner at the Pride of Place Awards held at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin on Saturday.

The group won in the Community Well Being Category – the award was presented to Timmy White and Eddie McGrath.

The group has 15 active members and contributes to many activities in Tipperary Town.

Tom Dowling (Chairperson, Pride of Place; Joe McGrath (Chief Executive, Tipperary County Council); Marie Cox (Tipperary County Council); George Jones (Chairperson, IPB Insurance); Emer Leahy (Manager, Knockanrawley Resource Centre); Caroline Conway (Lord Mayor of Dublin City); Timmy White (Tipperary Men’s Shed); Eddie McGrath (Tipperary Men’s Shed); Roger Kennedy (Cathaoirleach Cahir, Tipperary Town, Cashel District); Marty Whelan (Ceremony Host and Broadcaster).

Meanwhile Cahir Tidy Towns were runners up in their category and Cllr Andy Moloney collected the award and says it is for the entire community and every group that contributes to making Cahir a great place to live and visit.

Both groups were nominated for the competition by Tipperary County Council. Pride of Place judges visit every nominated community to adjudicate their projects.

The awards have grown to become Ireland’s largest event for recognising community volunteerism.

Tipperary Council CEO Joe McGrath, Cathaoirleach Cllr Roger Kennedy and Knockanrawley Resource Centre Manager, Emer Leahy, also attended.
