Davitt St. Works To Begin On Feb 11th.

551

The traffic management works on Davitt St are scheduled to begin on February 11th. The project will take place in stages, with the first expected to last three weeks.

These works will take place on the westbound side of the road between the entrance to Tesco and Lacey Villas. It will involve excavating that part of the road, installing drainage pipes, manholes and utility ducting and constructing new footpaths and a new section of that road.

After that, work will move on to the stretch of road between Lacey Villas to Redmond Square. Once completed, each new road section will be opened, with temporary road lining, and the works will move on.

The entire project is due to continue in sections until the beginning of September. At that stage, a final road surface will be applied to the full extent of the works.

Here are the details of how the works will be managed:

  • One side of the road/one lane shall be worked on at a time. Traffic lights will be used on Davitt St/Upper Church St throughout the works;
  • One-way traffic will operate. Diversions and alternative routes will be signposted similar to last year’s Irish Water works on Davitt St.
  • Sections of footpaths will be closed as they are demolished and upgraded. Pedestrians will be signposted to the nearest crossing;
  • Residents will be informed in advance for works carried out across driveways. Works will be carried out as speedily as possible to reduce disruption.
  • As part of the works, a mini roundabout shall be installed at the junction of Galbally Road, O’Brien Street and O’Connell Rd to aid traffic using diversion routes during the works.
  • Letter drops to Residents on Davitt St were carried out in 2018 by Tipperary County Council and last week by the Contractor. A drawing of the completed works was enclosed with the letter drop.
