The N24 at Ballykisteen has just reopened following a fatal road traffic collision there last night.

At around 8pm a male pedestrian, aged 23, was seriously injured when he was struck by a car.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to be carried out.

Nobody else was injured and no arrests have been made, gardai say.

As a result the N24 was closed at Ballykisteen for a time.

Gardai are appealing for witness and anyone with information, particularly those travelling on the N24 at Ballykisteen yesterday evening between 7.45pm and 8.15pm is asked to contact Tipperary Gardai Station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
