IDA Sought ‘Crazy Money’ For Tipp Town Site

The IDA has been criticised for not making a property it owns in Tipperary town available for a local business.

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, Director of Tipperary Distribution Ltd Michael Twomey was explaining why the company has been forced to move its business to Cahir as premises could not be secured in Tipperary town.

He said one of the sites the company considered relocating to was a two-acre IDA site in Tipperary.

However, he said when inquiries were made, the amount the IDA was looking for ended up being prohibitive.

The company, which was also refused permission to locate on another site due to planning issues, is due to move out of Tipperary town in three week’s time to base itself in Cahir.

Local councillors have been calling for council officials to do more to help Tipperary Distribution Ltd to stay in Tipperary town.
