Tidy Towns Win For Birdhill As Tipp Points Increase

The winners of the Tidy Towns have been revealed today and Skerries in Co Dublin has been recognised as Ireland’s tidiest large town.

Birdhill in Co Tipperary has been named Ireland’s Tidiest Village, while Listowel in Co Kerry becomes Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town for the second year in a row.

Locally, there has been good news as well.  Tipperary has seen its points increase by 8, being awarded 282 points in total, while Cashel has again broken the 300-point mark, securing 306 points – up five on last year.

Tommy Lonergan of Kilsheelan TidyTowns Committee scooped the overall national award for SuperValu Community Hero 2016, while Sharon Heffernan of Emly TidyTowns was highly commended with a SuperValu Community Hero Award.
