Rock of Cashel due to receive upgrade of facilities.

With visitor numbers having increased consistently in recent times, the Rock of Cashel is now in store for another boost.

According to the Office of Public Works (OPW), the scaffolding that has been in place for a number of years will finally come down this year.

According to local councillor Tom Wood, the works that are being carried out at the rock should be completed around autumn time, when the scaffolding will be dismantled.

It has also been revealed that the Rock is due an upgrade of its facilities. Among the works that are expected to take place is a refurbishment of the ticketing facilities,  while a new visitor centre will be built at the site, planning for which has to be applied for first.
