There are concerns about future job security at the Ranbaxy plant in Cashel after it emerged that there are plans to put the facility up for sale following a recent merger.
A merger was completed between the company and Sun Pharma.
It has since emerged that Sun Pharma plans to sell some of its Ranbaxy facilities, including the Cashel plant.
Commenting, local councillor Tom Wood has said that regular rearrangements between pharmaceutical companies across the world have created continuing uncertainty in the sector.
It is as yet uncertain what the consequences for workers will be. However, Cllr Wood has noted that as recently as this week people have begun receiving training at the plant.
He has contacted the IDA for more information on the sale of the plant while Cllr Martin Browne has called for an immediate response from local TDs.
