The Health Minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed the government's commitment to a number of capital projects for Tipperary.
Yesterday the minister launched the 2015 HSE Service Plan.
Among the measures announced were increases in funding to a number of areas in the health sector, including the Fair Deal nursing home scheme, mental health services and an extension of the Breastcheck programme.
On a more local basis, the commitments given include an extension of the radiology department at South Tipp General to accomodate a CT and MRI scanner.
A commitment has also been given for the provision of two new theatres adjacent to the existing theatre department at Nenagh General Hospital, the extension of the Primary Care Centre in Borrisokane and making Our Lady's Hospital Cashel compliant with standards set down by the Health Information and Quality Authority.
