County Tipperary has seen eight people die on its roads so far this year. It is the highest death level of any county in Ireland.

The details were released as gardaí announced operation Slow Down which will be in effect this bank holiday weekend from 7 am on Friday until 7 am Saturday

The objectives of the operation are to raise awareness of the dangers of inappropriate and excessive speed and to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, thus saving lives and reducing injuries on the country’s roads.

Last year, six people died on the country’s roads over the June Holiday weekend.
