Independent TD Michael Lowry maintains that he has no obligation to declare his interest in land he owns in UK as he claims, it has no value.

It was reported this morning that the North Tipperary TD failed to disclose to the Dail that he owns a parcel of land in the UK, which, it has been reported has the potential to be worth €10 million if its zoning is upgraded next year.

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, the Independent TD said that he had declared an interest in the company Vineacre which had owned the land . But he added that when the company was dissolved its land options were not renewed and the land in question became effectively worthless.

He added that as a result of the land being worth little and it not providing him with any income, he did not have a duty to declare it.
