Updated 21/02/12: A man has died at South Tipperary General Hospital after being assaulted in Thurles in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The assault took place at 1.30am Sun morning at Liberty Square, Thurles.
25 year old James Tynan who is from Kilkenny was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital Clonmel where he died on Monday after being on a life support machine.
A man aged 22 years from TempleTuohy, Co. Tipperary has been arrested in relation to the incident and was detained under Section 4 of CJA, and being held at Thurles Garda Station. He has been since released without charge.
