Special Event In Advance Of Upcoming Elections To Be Held In Knockanrawley

A special event in advance of the upcoming elections is being held in Tipperary town on Sunday February 25th. The event being held in Knockanrawley on Sunday afternoon will feature a debate between members of North and South Tipperary Macra and some of the candidates for the European Parliament Elections are also expected to be in attendance. 

County Tipperary forms part of the Ireland South constituency along with Limerick, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow

The event is being organised by Tipperary Public Participation Network and will take place between 2pm – 4.30 pm in Knockanrawley Resource centre, Tipperary town, E34 D832. 

The European and Local elections are expected to take place on June 7th.  This EU engagement event is part of an awareness campaign to get ready for both the EU and the Local elections. 

The Ireland South Constituency will elect 5 MEPs in the June 2024 elections. Sitting Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune will not be contesting the election this year.  The other sitting MEPs are Sean Kelly FG, Mick Wallace Independent, Billy Kelleher Fianna Fáil and Grace O’Sullivan Green party – all have declared their intention to stand for re-election.

In addition, Niamh Hourigan will stand for Labour, Senator Paul Gavan and Kathleen Funchion TD are to stand for Sinn Fein, Lorna Bogue for An Rabharta Glas, Michael Leahy for the Irish Freedom Party and Cian Prendiville for the People Before Profit Solidarity Party. John Mullins, the former CEO Bord Gáis, is to seek the Fine Gael nomination on March 10th.
