Tipperary town is to be the location of a major new waste management initiative – particularly in respect of waste in the hospitality sector.

A new My Waste “Green Hub” initiative is to be launched on March 5th at the Great National Ballykisteen  Hotel as part of the 2024 Enterprise Week events. The aim is to support business operators to better manage and reduce business waste, potentially reduce costs and help the local environment. Places for the free event can be booked at this link here.

Tipperary County Council, in association with My Waste, is hosting the launch of the Tipperary Town Green Hub campaign at a breakfast event scheduled to run from 8.00am – 9.00 am.

The event will be a chance for local businesses to hear about this new initiative for Tipperary Town and network over a light breakfast.  Representatives from the Regional Waste Management Planning Office, Tipperary Green Business Network, Tipperary Local Enterprise Office and Tipperary ETB will share their knowledge on greener business practices.  Business operators will also be updated about sustainable training and other business support opportunities that will be available over the next 6 months and how joining the Green Hub campaign will help create a greener, more environmentally conscious hospitality business community in Tipperary town.

Ger Darcy, Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council is encouraging all hospitality businesses in Tipperary town and surrounding areas to join in the Green Hubs initiative.  Tipperary Town has been selected as the first Green Hub in the County with the hope of the success of this initiative being replicated in towns all over the County.
