Veterinary Council Of Ireland Welcomes 10 New Vets To The Tipperary Veterinary Register In 2023

The Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI), the statutory body responsible for the regulation and management of veterinary medicine  welcomed 10 new vets to the Register from Tipperary in 2023. In 2022, 13 new vets in Tipperary were added to the VCI’s Register.

The total number of vets and veterinary nurses on the Veterinary Council Register nationally currently stands at 3,522 and 1,263 respectively, which is an all-time high.

The Council has also established a Workforce planning group to address veterinary recruitment and retention challenges.

The Government and Higher Education Authority are also considering proposals for additional capacity in veterinary places in third level institutions with a new Veterinary College under consideration. The University of Limerick has asked to be considered as the location for the new facility.
