The Justice Minister Alan Shatter has said that he does not favour the proposed Tipperary Venue casino complex.

He made the comment as he revealed some details of the new gambling legislation to be brought in next year.

He said modest-sized casinos and private members clubs will be regulated but that provisions for casinos the size of the Tipperary Venue will not have provisions made for them.

In response the Venue’s developers have said they will meet with the relevant department to determine the definition of ‘modest’ casinos, adding that they will make submissions to ensure they can meet the terms of the license.

They also confimred that the revised design for an Equestrian Centre has been completed and an application should be lodged with North Tipperary planning authorities in the coming week.
