Tipp Youth Service Urges People To Register In Time To Vote

Tipperary Youth Service is urging people to register in time to vote in the upcoming referendums and elections.

The Youth Service office at Bank Place, Tipperary town is making a computer available for any person wishing to check if they are on the voter’s register and to add their details if necessary.

The newly created Electoral Commission is updating the Voters register and the register will operate on a rolling basis going forward instead of a once a year update as in the past.  Voters can visit the website checktheregister.ie to check if they are registered or to register their details.

Voters are asked to supply their PPS number and Eircode to register. Those aged 16 or 17 can pre-register at present this will make them eligible to vote once they reach 18 years of age.

February 20th is the closing date to register to be eligible to vote in the March 8th Referendums on changes to the Constitution.

Local, European and possibly a general election will also be held this year with a Presidential election to be held in 2025.

Residents in Ireland can vote in Local and European elections, only Irish Citizens can vote in General Elections, Presidential elections in addition to the Local Council elections and European Parliament elections.
