Cllr Morris Seeks Details On Fire Service Inspection Into UHL ED

502

Independent Tipperary Councillor Seamus Morris is seeking details of inspections carried out by Limerick Fire Service at the Emergency Department of University Hospital Limerick(UHL)  since January 1st 2019.

The councillor has submitted his request under the Freedom of Information(FOI) process.

In addition the councillor is seeking copies of any correspondence issued by the Limerick Fire Service to the Hospital management as a result of the inspections and any recommendations to Management and any follow-up correspondence as a result of any such  recommendations.

The Nenagh based councillor, a strong advocate for improvements in UHL service provision, is also seeking copies of any fire certificates issued for UHL Emergency Department  since Jan 1st  2019.

The Councillor is a nominated member of the HSE West Health Forum and is dissatisfied that a request made at the forum for the Fire Service  to inspect UHL ED in September 2023  has not yet been completed. The Councillor is concerned about the safety risks caused by the severe overcrowding in the Emergency Department, an ongoing feature of service at the hospital.
