A major fundraiser launches in aid of Tipperary Town Meals On Wheels.
The West Tipperary Social Hurling Tournament will take place on Saturday, January 6th beginning at 11:30am at the new AstroTurf pitch at the Abbey CBS School.
All funds raised will go towards the upgrade of the kitchen flooring from old ceramic tiles to non slip, hygienic commercial kitchen flooring.
The meal service is based in the Community Service Centre on St Michael’s Street and Centre Manager Brian English says the upgrade of the kitchen floor will cost in the region of €8000.
Event Organiser Billy Ryan says he’s put out a call for social hurling clubs across the country to be part of this fundraiser event and says there’s been a huge response so far.
Mr Ryan says their hopeful that sponsors will come forward to support teams involved or a main event sponsor will come on board, anyone interested is asked to contact the Community Services Centre for more details.
The Meals on Wheels is currently delivering on average 120 meals per day to Tipperary Town and roughly a 10km catchment area.
The service is available to everyone that wishes to avail of the service.
People can give their support through a GoFund Me set up by the Tipperary Community Council CLG which people can access here.
