Tipperary TD Michael Lowry confirms that the Lough Doire Bhille walk near Littleton has secured €108,000 in funding from the latest allocations under the Outdoor Rural Infrastructure Scheme. The funds are to be used to improve access and to upgrade the facility located on Bord na Mona lands near Littleton.

The site includes a man-made lake with gravel paths looping around the lake. The walk is very popular as it is all on the level and is a known habitat for Butterflies such as the Marsh Fritillary. Deputy Lowry says the upgrade will enhance the appeal of the location which is also now linked to the Derry na Flan monastic ruin closer to the Horse and Jockey. Tipperary County Council, Bord Na Mona and Tipperary Tourism Company are co-developing the Littleton Labyrinth – a series of walking and cycling trails in the area extending to Moyne Templetuohy.
