Uisce Eireann reports that a reservoir interruption may cause supply disruptions to Poulmucka, Clerihan, Redcity, Barretstown, Fethard, Knocka and surrounding areas. The leak is on a part of the Ardfinnan Water Supply and effects up to 1000 homes and businesses.
While repair works are scheduled to take place until 10pm today normal supply is expected to return later this morning as the Jamestown and Goatenbrigde reservoirs fill and full pressure is restored.
A water tanker will be available at Poulamucka Village until 5pm today. Uisce Eireann advises that any member of the public obtaining water from the tanker should boil the water before use in line with HSE advice.
Cllr Andy Moloney says a failure to repair leaks in a timely fashion and inadequate monitoring of the reservoirs resulted in a more severe disruption to supply than was necessary.
