Uisce Eireann is advising that a planned power outage may cause supply disruptions to Thomastown, Golden and surrounding areas today.

Works are scheduled to take place from 9am until 5:30pm.

The company says it may be 2 – 3 hours after the completion of the works before supply to fully returns.

Works are also planned for Cashel on Thursday May 23rd. Testing for leaks in the network as part of the National Leakage Reduction Programme is scheduled for 1am until 5am on 23 May.

Meanwhile residents in Kilmore and parts of Knockavilla were without water yesterday – an update has been sought from Uisce Eireann.

Tipperary Sinn Fein TD Martin Browne has received confirmation from Uisce Éireann that a replacement valve will be installed this week on Boherclough St in Cashel.

The TD says he has made repeated requests resulting in a contractor for Uisce Éireann visiting the site yesterday.

Repairs were not possible as the packing on valve had failed.  The replacement valve is to be completed on Thursday.

The Cashel Based TD is critical of Uisce Éireann’s response time and says that between supply interruptions and a lack of response from the company, Uisce Eireann is not living up to their role and their obligation sufficiently.

Deputy Browne has asked for a more urgent response and says that the inconvenience caused to  homes and businesses  is unacceptable from a publicly-funded utility company.
