Cllr Anne Marie Ryan is calling on the Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD to support the St John’s Famine Graveyard Committee in Tipperary town. The local committee maintains the historic graveyard via the assistance of TUS workers and regularly arranges events at the graveyard located adjacent to the Tipperary Hills. The committee are seeking funds to repair the paths in the graveyard as the work is beyond their resources.
All stakeholders are to meet to examine how funding of approximately €25,000 can be sourced for the repair works. Council officials, the Tipperary Task Force and the volunteer committee and supporters are now to examine possible sources of funding to deliver the footpath repairs as soon as possible. The call for assistance to be provided was supported by fellow Councillors at yesterday’s Municipal District meeting
