TD Martin Browne Calls On The HSE To Make A Decision On The Proposed Community Nursing Unit

Cashel based TD Martin Browne is again calling on the HSE to make a decision on the location of the proposed Community Nursing Unit and to commence measures to deliver the unit.

The long delayed project has yet to secure a definite location having originally been due to seek planning at St Patrick’s Campus in 2019. In 2023 The HSE revealed that it no longer considers the site to be large enough to accommodate the unit and the car park space required. The HSE has been examining land it owns at Palmers Hill in Cashel and the possibility of acquiring adjacent land to provide easier access.  This process has been ongoing for over a year.

Deputy Browne is asking that the HSE give serious consideration to modifying all available unused space in the former Our Lady’s hospital in Cashel as a viable location to provide ensuite rooms for residents.   Part of the building was modified during the pandemic to provide accommodation for residents that were in St Patrick’s residential facility at the time. The TD is also concerned about the expense involved in consultant and design fees to date when a location has not been confirmed.
