Success For Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers At The British & Irish Cheese Awards 2024

Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers, based on Beechmount Farm has won the Best Irish Cheese and Reserve Champion trophies at the British & Irish Cheese Awards 2024, taking two of this year’s top honours with Cashel Blue. The cheese is a semi-soft blue cow’s milk cheese with a full flavour and signature tang.  It also won the award for Best Blue Cheese. This is only the second time that an Irish cheese has been award the Reserve Champion Award.  Snowdrop by Cote Hill Dairy, based in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire was named the Supreme Champion.

The family business operates from a rural setting close to Dualla to the east of Cashel and was founded in 1984 by Jane and Louis Grubb and continues today with the next generation.The competition featured over 600 entries from across the UK and Ireland. Organised by the Royal Bath & West Society, the British & Irish Cheese Awards saw a 63-strong judging panel made up of cheesemakers, cheesemongers, cheese experts, buyers and commentators assessing entries to select category winners and ultimately Reserve and Supreme champion.
