People of Co. Tipperary are being asked to support Daffodil Day today as part of the Irish Cancer Society’s biggest fundraising drive of the year.
Daffodils will be sold at Dunnes Store SuperValu, Tipp Credit Union, the Market Yard and outside the Post Office in Tipperary Town while in Cashel you’ll be able support at stalls from O Dwyer Butchers, in SuperValu and outside Aldi too.
Meanwhile a number of local events are taking place as part of day including a coffee day which is being held in the home of Mike O’Donoghue, Dromlara, Pallasgreen from now until very late. This is the 10th year of its running and it is in memory of Saoirse Ruane.
There will be plenty of tea, coffee and goodies available. Hosted by Mike and the mighty 8.
A Trad night, raffle and auction will take place at 9pm tonight in Gleeson’s Bar Cashel too.
On average, 42,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day funds crucial support services for people affected by cancer as well as lifesaving cancer research.
Public support is crucial according to Lucy Ryan the Coordinator in the Cashel area who urged locals to show their support on Daffodil Day.
