A new audio and video podcast series featuring all 9 female councillors in Tipperary has been launched by Tipperary County Council.
By sharing the experiences and insights of female councillors in Tipperary, the podcast series aims to provide valuable information and inspiration for women considering a career in politics. At present there are 9 women councillors in Tipperary out of a total of 40 – giving a female participation rate of 22.5% despite women making up slightly more than 50% of the population. The podcast is nine individual recordings and can be found on the Tipperary council website at this link here. Each councillor is interviewed by Paul Collins from Ballywire media.
The aim is to encourage women’s interest in local and national politics, increase the visibility of women councillors in County Tipperary, and create awareness of the positive impact of female participation in politics.
Councillor Peggy Ryan, Chairperson of the Tipperary Women’s Caucus is hopeful that the podcasts will inspire women to get involved in local politics and work within their communities to make a positive impact.
