Cllr Micheal Anglim To Step Down At The End Of The Current Council Term

Cllr Micheal Anglim, Fianna Fáil, a councillor in the Cahir Local Electoral Area is to step down at the end of the current Council term. The five-year council term will officially end with local elections planned for early June alongside the European Parliament Elections. The announcement has caused surprise in local political circles. Cllr Anglim is based in Ardfinnan and has been highly active in a number of local issues but particularly the campaign for a pedestrian bridge to be constructed in the village situated on the River Suir.

Cllr Anglim was first elected in 2014 having been co-opted onto the Council in 2013 when his father Michael, a sitting councillor since 1991, died. In a brief statement Cllr Anglim is extending thanks to his supporters and to councillors and council officials in Tipperary County Council for their support and assistance.

Mr Anglim led the Councillors Representative body  – Local Authority Members Association(LAMA ) in recent years and was instrumental in bringing the LAMA National Awards event to Tipperary and securing a commitment that the event would rotate out of Dublin every second year. The Cahir Local Electoral area which is part of the Tipperary Cashel Municipal District elects four councillors – the other three sitting councillors are Marie Murphy Fine Gael and Independents Mairin McGrath and Andy Moloney.
