Burst Mains Pipe May Cause Cashel Residents To Remain Without Water This Evening

421

Uisce Éireann customers in the Cashel area may be without water until this evening due to a burst mains pipe that first emerged on Saturday evening. The mains burst, which is understood to be near Golden, is now being repaired – the outage has affected customers in Cashel Town, Springmount, Golden and surrounding areas. Uisce Eireann says every effort has been made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, including routing alternative supplies into Cashel town.

Repairs are now expected to be completed by this afternoon. It will take until later this evening for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by the outage, especially those on higher ground or at the end of the network as the burst is causing low pressure and outages for many customers particularly those in elevated areas of the network.

Water tankers are available for the public to collect water – these are located at St. Patrick’s Hospital and Cashel Rugby Club. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.  Uisce Eireann can be contacted by telephoning  1 800 278 278 – updates are also posted on the website water.ie.
