Motion For New Bollards To Prevent Drivers Crossing Tipp Town Green Space Rejected

A motion to have new bollards installed to prevent drivers crossing a green space in Tipperary town was rejected at yesterday’s Municipal District meeting.

Cllr Anne Marie Ryan requested the installation of new bollards to prevent vehicles driving on green space located between the N74 Cashel road and Pearse Park.

Cllr Ryan says some of the bollards are broken or missing and drivers are using the opportunity to cut through the green area to access Pearse Park, and Knockanrawley area of town.

Council engineers say there is probably only a small number of individuals driving on the grass and that installing bollards would be a costly solution.

Cllr Ryan says there are safety concerns for residents and school children in the area.  The matter is to be referred to An Garda Siochana.
