A Tipperary town student is to travel to Monaco next week to represent Ireland in the world finals of the Junk Kouture competition.
Eabha Byrnes, a student at St Anne’s School, entered the competition in early 2023 when she was in transition year. The competition seeks to encourage the principles of reduce, reuse and recycling and invites young people to design and make an outfit from items that are no longer used for their original purpose.
Eabha’s design is titled Drowning Duchess and features a head to toe ensemble made of buoyancy aids used by swimmers. Eabha has been assisted by her Art Teacher Ms Helen Ryan to create her design which was also one of the Irish winners featured on last year’s Late Late TV Show.
John Cullinane, school principal, says the entire school population is supporting Eabha as she competes for the world title in Monaco.
