Special Double Payment Due This Week

The Government is making a special double payment this week to approximately 1.3 million people on 31 different State supports to assist with the cost of living.  In county Tipperary 50,133 people will receive the bonus payment that was announced in the Budget.

Over the course of this week, a Double Lump Sum Payment will be issued to the likes of pensioners, carers, people with disabilities, lone parents and low income families.   It will be paid on the same basis as the Christmas Bonus and will include the core weekly rate increase of €12 that came into effect at the start of the year.

Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys says the extra payment “is recognising that families continue to feel the pinch, particularly after the Christmas period. The double payment is automatically paid – people do not need to apply.
