Community groups interested in preserving their area’s local history and heritage are invited to an information session on the Irish Community Archive Network to be held in the Horse and Jockey hotel next Tuesday evening – September 26th.   The Tipperary Heritage Office is hosting the event.

The Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) was established by the National Museum of Ireland in 2009 and currently has 28 member groups. Its aim is to encourage and support community groups to collect, preserve and make accessible their local history and heritage online. Groups accepted into the programme will be provided with a fully subsidised Community Archive website and relevant training and upskilling programmes. Each member group is guided step-by-step as they develop their community archive website to professional standards, while being supported by a network of volunteers and heritage professionals on an ongoing basis.

The information session will be held in the Sadler’s Wells Room at the  Horse & Jockey Hotel, E41 AP86 from 7pm to 8.30pm with tea/coffee provided.

Those interested in attending should register by emailing [email protected] by close of business on Thursday 21st September. The email should include the name of the group and the name/s and email addresses of the attendee/s.
