South Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon To Be Held In Cahir This Autumn

Cllr Andy Moloney is welcoming the successful effort to hold a Women’s Mini Marathon event in Tipperary this Autumn.

The Tipperary Sports Partnership is not funding the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon this year putting the well-established event in danger of not being staged at all in 2023.

In previous years the event rotated annually between Thurles and Clonmel.   It is unclear why the Sports Partnership is discontinuing the event – the Sports Partnership is also refusing to release the name of the event for use by others.

This has resulted in a new name and venue for a Women’s Race on September 24th. The event will now be known as the South Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon and will be run over a distance of 8km on a route around Cahir town.

The Two Johnnies have agreed to sponsor the event and proceeds raised will be shared between The Little Blue Heroes Charity and to fund the provision of a Cuan Saor Outreach facility in Cahir to support victims of Domestic Violence.

Full details of the event can be found on the website  www.itsyourrace.com
