Garda In Cahir Investigating Fatality Near Ballylooby

Garda in Cahir are investigating a fatality near Ballylooby last night when a pedestrian died after being struck by a car.  The collision occurred shortly at approximately 11pm on the R688 Ballylooby to Clogheen Road at Burgess West.  The deceased is understood to be a local man aged 41 – his body  was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will take place.  The male driver, aged 26, was uninjured. Garda in Cahir say the road remains closed for a forensic examination today.

Gardaí in Cahir are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling between Ballylooby and Clogheen late last night, including anyone with dashcam footage around the time of the incident make contact on 052 744 5630 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

There has been an outpouring of shock, sadness and sympathy following the deaths of two young men in Tipperary on Saturday. Both were 19.
