Water Supply To The Kilross Area Should Return To Normal According To Uisce Eireann

412

Uisce Eireann says that water supply in the Kilross area should be returning to normal about now as repair works on a burst pipe were undertaken earlier today.

The company says Boil Water Notices in respect of the Ardfinnan and Burncourt Ballylooby Public Water Supply Schemes will remain in effect for a few more days until satisfactory sampling reports are received. The raw water for intake at the Water Treatment Plants contains too many particulates due to recent heavy rainfall and these particulates interfere with the water disinfection process. The Boil Water notices affect over almost 15,000 people in South Tipperary.

In addition, Uisce Eireann is issuing precautionary Boil Water notices for Public Water  Schemes in Tipperary due to industrial action by members of Unite Trade union planned for tomorrow July 13 and Friday July 14th. The water services workers are not expected to be monitoring Water Treatment Plants(WTPs) as normal or responding to water distribution issues due to burst pipes. Crottys Lake, Templetney, Glenary and Poulavanogue are the four WTPs supplying between 19,000 – 20,000 people in the Carrick on Suir and Clonmel/East Cahir area. The precautionary notices on these 4 plants come into effect at midnight on Wednesday and are expected to be in place until early next week
