New General Manager Appointed To Tipperary Town Recreation Centre

The Board of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre has announced the appointment of a new General Manager and wished him well.

Conor White started in the position on Friday. Mr. White completed a degree in sports and exercise Science in UL in 2020.

The medium term plan is to rejuvenate and re energise the CHRC and to ensure that all members of the community are served at the town centre facility. The facility, established in 1987, has been included in the recent funding application under the Rural Regeneration Fund. The Board of the Centre aims to provide state of the art facilities for the people of the town, and to serve as a lynchpin for social inclusion through recreation and sport in the future. The Tipperary Task Force is working with the Board to upgrade the centre, and will partner with local groups and hard to reach communities to increase recreation and sporting participation in the town. The Centre has also recently partnered with Tipperary Sports Partnership to establish a Community Sports Hub at CHRC.

The Indoor facilities include a Sports Hall, Aerobics Studio, Sauna / Steam Room, Squash and Racquetball Courts, Gymnasium, Strength and Conditioning Room, Pre-School and an adjoining Swimming Pool. While the Outdoor facilities include a flood lit Running Track, 3 all-weather Astro Turf Pitches and 2 Tennis Courts. The venue offers special rates to students, special disability and disadvantaged groups and operates an open door policy thus enabling people from all walks of life to use the facilities.

The centre operates as a non-profit organization and is run by a voluntary Board of Management.
